Most people with disabilities want to work, and they can work and still receive SSI benefits to help lift themselves out of poverty. Paid work provides dignity, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging. Paying deviated (sub-minimum) wages is not only unethical, it is being phased out across the nation. Food is the vehicle; Equity is the mission.
